Transferring Characters

Welcome to the how-to transfer characters guide. Transferring is a mechanic in Kwillians allowing you to transfer outside characters from other ARPG's or Art Groups. This guide will go over what types of characters you can transfer, how to transfer a character, the rules for transferring, and more.

An Important Note

There is a small caveat to know before getting ready to transfer any characters into the group, that being that transfers are not free. You do not start with any free transfer slots and must purchase a Transfer Gem from the shop, trade for one, or the free option of course. It's always possible to earn transfer gems from a raffle, or roll the item randomly from any random item events.

You may be wondering why there's no free transfers, and the answer is quite simple; we don't want the group to be comprised of mostly transfers, and it's unfair. Allowing users to freely transfer in their characters from other groups and get an immediate head start can cause jealousy or a sense of unfairness that all of us in Kwillian would like to avoid. It's also important to note that rare upgrades and many other limited things in the group can be gained via transfers, and those aren't things we want everyone running around with.

How to Transfer

Let's look at what you'll need to transfer a character into the group, such as what you'll need, how old the character must be, and the like!

In Order to Transfer

  • The Character you want to transfer must be at least Six (6) Months Old calculated from their approval, masterlist entry, or first ever image drawn of them.
  • You must have Five (5) separate deviations or images of the character you want to transfer posted somewhere where the staff can see it.
  • Alignments & Magic

Unless using an item that allows you to choose an differnet alignment when posting an approval, all Transfers by default have access to the same alignment as MYOS. The basic five alignments MYOs can be are Fire, Water, Air, Earth, or Purity.

Transfers may keep their tier of learned magic if previously learned through a learning or trial system. All you need to keep your character's tier of magic is to provide proof of completing their magic in the way of a masterlist and proof it was learned through a system instead of being innate magic.

*If the Character you're transferring in has a near exact match to a non-tainted secondary magic, you can request a template with the secondary they possess on it to allow you to transfer in a secondary element.

    Rules and Restrictions

Transfers have a bit of rules and restrictions that apply to them! Make sure to read the following portion of the guide closely, and if you have a questions such as "Can I transfer X in" or "Is X Upgrade Legal" on a transfer, this guide has answers!

What Can and Can't be Transferred

    Transferrable

  • Any Evolving Species ARPG Character you currently own and use in other ES-ARPGs.
  • Any ARPG Non-Fan Characters you have donated to the group personally and still own the design of.
  • Non-Fan Characters from ARPG's that do not involve Evolving Species Elements but still contain active mechanics such as an approval process, and drawing your character to earn currency of some sort.
  • Non-Transferrable Closed Species Characters / Designs that you own.
  • Non-Transferrable

  • Any Character that you do not completely own the rights to, including:
  • Co-Owned Characters from any ARPG
  • Transferrable Closed Species Characters that can exit your ownership
  • Characters whose entire design, name, etc. were given completely to the group for their own personal use/reselling. This does not include ES-ARPG Donation Mechanics.
  • Fan-Characters from any ARPG involving copyrighted content, such as Pokemon or other franchises with easily recognized features.
  • Fan-Characters meant to be a direct copy of a real-life person (this does not include Fan-Characters based on show, book, or game characters)
  • Any Original OCs of any kind that are not involved in an ARPG or Art Group of some sort.
  • Rules

    General Rules

  • You can have up to Seven (7) Adult upgrades on your transfers that appear on the original design. You are able to add any baby upgrades that match baby upgrades your character had previously for free. If you remove any of these upgrades, the requirement must be full-filled to reapply it.
  • Upgrades must match their closest in-group equivalent, if there is no equivalent than it cannot be used as an upgrade on your transfer.
  • All Characters no matter their actual age of Baby, Teen, or Adult, must be transferred into the group as a Kwilling.
  • All of the following Categories and Upgrades are not available for use on Transfers;
  • Injuries and Diseases
  • YCH and Event Upgrades (*See below for exceptions*)
  • Breeding Upgrades
  • Limited Upgrades
  • All Upgrades unable to be applied to Kwillings with an Item
  • Subspecies cannot be made with a Transfer unless a Subspecies Token is used on the Approval.
  • You're able to keep the base color and up to four secondaries for your transfer, just make sure to fill out the palette section of the form properly.
  • You must have an already approved MYO or Bred Kwillian in the group, meaning that your transfer cannot be your first character in the group.

  • YCH & Event Upgrades: Important

If you have proof of purchasing the upgrade in another group for YCH Upgrades, or proof of earning it via an event involving art prompts similar to Kwillian events for Event Upgrades, you can keep the upgrade as long as that proof is provided! This inculdes all YCH & Event Upgrades.

    Allowed Changes

  • Small Edits to your characters design which can include;
  • Small adjustments to the color palette as long as it remains close to the original shade and hue.
  • Minor placement or pattern adjustments, including simplification of the design or placement shuffling.
  • Using an old alternate version of the character for transferring, however, you must use only that version of the character. i.e. all Five (5) images required for transferring must be of the same version.
  • Using the character outside of Kwillians if they are not from another Evolving Species ARPG that does not allow the continued use of characters transferred to other groups
  • Disallowed Changes

  • Submitting images of the original characters' design to the Kwillians group. Only Kwillians art should be submitted to the group folders, and the original design of your character does not count for shards or requirements, only their current up to date Kwillians look.
  • Redesigning/Adding Features to your Character right before Transferrin
  • Do not add anything to your Character just because you want that upgrade on them as a Kwillian. You will be asked to remove it from the approval if you attempt it.
  • Abusing the System to constantly obtain Rare Upgrades that you cannot normally get on an MYO Kwilling or Adult.
  • Getting Ready to Get Approved

Now that you know the rules for transfer approvals, you can draw them and get them ready to get approved. Before you hop right into this though, let's take a look at some transfer examples to help you visualize what is and isn't allowed on a transfer. One good one, and one bad one.

    Bad Transfer Example

This Transfer example is a good example of a bad transfer.

The transferred Kwillian does not resemble the original character in any way, lacking the same color palette and with upgrades that the original character doesn't have.

While the wings being a different type and placements being different are okay, the rest isn't!

    Good Transfer Example

This Transfer example is a good example of a good transfer.

The transferred Kwillian and original character are easily recognized as the same despite the changes that have been made. Their color palettes are similar and they only have a total of seven transferable adult upgrades.

This would mean they're good to go and ready to be submitted for approval!

Step 5 | Submitting your Approval

Now that you've drawn your transfer and have it all ready, you'll have to upload it to Deviantart or Toyhou.se and add the needed information. Let's take a look at what you need to include in the description of a Deviation or in a forum post on the groups Toyhou.se world for Transfer Approvals! Then you're ready to just wait until a staff member gets to your approval.

    Notated Form

Name: Your Kwillians name! Remember, this must be the same name listed on the Transfer Approval template.

Sex: Your Kwillians Biological sex, this can be Male or Female only!

Alignment:Which magical Alignment your Kwillian has! Remember that without a Tainted Idol, this can only be Water, Fire, Earth, Air, or Purity! You can circle/highlight this on the template in some way if you want!

Creation: MYO, Bred, etc.! Since this is a transferred in character you'll put 'Transfer'

Subspecies: Whether your Kwillian is a Standard, Dweller, Galatian, or other. This depends on if a subspecies token has been used, and if so, which one.

Upgrades: What subspecies your Kwillian is! Most MYO's will be Standard Kwillian!

Original Approval/Masterlist Image: A link to the approval or masterlist entry of the character you're transferring in. This should show that the character is Six (6) Months Old or Older

Five Images: All five separate deviations or images required that show the character in their previous form.
