Basic Questions

What is Kwillians?

Kwillians is a semi-open, upgradeable ARPG species that takes place in a post apocalyptic setting after a catastrophe known as The Great Collapse! Being semi-open means you're free to make one, but there are rules to making them, and you start with a limited amount of slots to make characters with!

What happens if I switch accounts?

While you are free to transfer any non-account bound items, pets, etc. to a new account, all of your Kwillians approved on your previous account will be considered null and void. This includes ones paid for and free ones, and you will have to start from scratch with your Kwillians! Multi-Accounting to gain more free slots is not allowed and will result in a permanant ban.

Can I make/base my Kwillian off an existing character? (Fan Kwillian)

Yes, and no. You are free to make Kwillians based on characters in media, however, you are not allowed to make Kwillian based on other people's Characters that you do not own.

If it's a character based on a character from media (book, movie, tv show, etc.) yes; HOWEVER the Kwillian MUST be different from the "original" and not a carbon copy. Try changing up the colors or only taking parts from the character's personality and design and adding to it to make them unique!

YOU CAN NEVER MAKE A KWILLIAN BASED ON A REAL PERSON. EVER. REGARDLESS OF POPULARITY OR PLATFORM, THEIR LIKENESS IS NOT YOURS TO TAKE.

Can I delete my Kwillians Approvals?

Sure, if you want to lose that Kwillian and all of the currency earned from drawing them! When a baby application is deleted a Kwillian; Cannot be used inside of the group to gain Gem Shards (and all Gem Shards gained from drawing them previously are removed), cannot have upgrades applied, cannot be used in breeding, cannot participate in events, etc.

It will be treated as if they never existed, including voiding all YCH or Special Upgrades applied to them.

I don't want my Kwillian anymore, what can I do?

If you don't want or aren't connecting with your Kwillian anymore, there are several things you can do! You can overhaul them, with a new upgrades, a new name, or new plot! Alternatively, if you truly don't want them anymore and simply want them gone, you can donate them in the #donate-a-design channel on the Kwillians Discord!

Can I sell my Kwillians/Pets/Items for Money?

No. You cannot sell your Kwillian, your items, or your pets for money. If you are found ever trying to sell your Kwillians, Kwillian items, or Kwillian pets you own for real-life money, you AND the person attempting to purchase will be permanently banned. There are NO exceptions.

What happens if I leave the group?

If you leave the group but haven't deleted your Kwillians applications, you're free to note the Deviantart Group to receive an invite back! Your inventory, pets, etc. will remain untouched, we don't delete your things just because you leave for a bit!

How do I get pets, items, etc.?

In order to get a pet you must; be gifted one, receive one in a trade, purchase one from the group, or win one in a raffle/dta/etc. Keep an eye on the Kwillians-Resource account if you want the best chance at snagging a Pet! Remember it's first come first serve when making purchases on pets!

Items are sold either in The Shops here on the website, given as rewards for events or quests, or sometimes are put up for trade by members in the #the-marketplace channel!

Do I have to grow my Kwilling's up?

No, of course not! Whether or not you grow your Kwillings up is all up to you, you're free to keep them babies forever. Just keep in mind that being a baby is limiting, meaning your Kwilling won't be able to gain most upgrades without items, or even gain some upgrades at all! They also may not be able to participate in some events, and won't be able to breed, learn their magic, and more!

Can I draw my Kwillian with other species/arpg-groups/etc?

Yes, however, remember that in order to count for Gem Shards and Upgrade Requirements, all art must be canon to the group and with their up-to-date design! This means that if you want to draw them with another sentient species or in their old looks, you cannot count it for Gem Shards, Submit it to the Group, or use it for Upgrade Requirements!

Can I create my own NPC's to use for personal reasons?

Yes! Just remember that any unofficial Kwillians (personal NPC or not) should not be the focus of any official pieces, cannot count for Gem Shards, and must be drawn with an official and approved Kwillian in order to be submitted to the group gallery!

Breeding Questions

Do I have to use all of the upgrades rolled in my Breeding?

All of the normal upgrades that your Bred Kwilling are rolled with are optional, however, any Mutations that a Bred Kwilling is rolled with are not optional and must be applied to them on their approval! Also keep in mind that any upgrades you don't use still need to be listed in the approvals description (just mark them off as "Not Using" or cross them out!)

How do "Non-Canon" Breedings work?

Non-Canon Breedings are up to your discretion! Bred Kwillian are related to parents in mechanics no matter what, however, you're free to say that they aren't related at all if you so choose! You are always free to make other Kwillian the parents in your bred Kwilling's story, or only have them related to one of their mechanic parents but not the other in lore.

Can I depict my Kwillian as Pregnant, etc.?

Sure! Whether your Kwillian has offially bred and the baby is theirs in mechanics, or even if it's an MYO or mechanically related to other Kwillian, you're always free to depict your Kwillian as pregnant for plot reasons! Just keep in mind that only biologically female Kwillian can become pregnant. If a Kwillian is biologically male and has not had a Lovestone Fragment used on them in a breeding, they cannot be depicted as pregnant.

Do I have to list Grandparents if my Kwillian has them?

In short? Yes! Grandparents are required to be listed on a breeding comment no matter what, even if you aren't using them. This is to make sure no direct inbreeding happens in mechanics i.e. parent to child or sibling to sibling.

Can I breed Kwillian of the same Sex?

Yes and No. Unfortunately Kwillians of the same sex cannot breed under normal circumstances. Instead, a Lovestone Fragment must be used in Conjunction with their breeding to allow one of the Kwillian to temporarily swap their sex. This effect is not permanant however and they will return to their original sex after the birth of the egg!

You are of course always allowed to depict your Kwillian in same sex relationships, though some cities may not be so accepting of the fact. Any same-sex couples that don't like the idea of using a Lovestone Fragment can also always use surrogates, or adopt!

Art Related Questions

Are Collabs allowed in the Group/Can I help a friend with their requirements?

Of course! Just remember that when doing collabs for non-team-events that the majority of the work must be done by the uploader! i.e. they must do the largest percentage of work so as to avoid any unfairness! Gem Shards are awarded to the user who uploads the image (Both users cannot upload the same image and count shards for it.)

Any craft-related requirements must be done 100% by the uploader. You cannot have a friend do your crafts for you.

I'm a traditional artist, can I still join and participate?

Yes of course you can! Just be aware that doing requirements and approvals can be a lot more difficult with traditional art versus digital art. Specifically, because Digital Art is easier edited, we recommend that you do your best to try to do Digital Art for Approvals at the very least!

There are plenty of free art programs you can use, such as Fire Alpaca or Krita, but approvals must be done by you. Even if you are a traditional artist, however, all art that is added to the group must be clean and clear, meaning not blurred or shadowed from artificial lighting. It's recommended you line with pens/markers and color using markers or paint to avoid any scratchy or awkward areas on your art.

Try to make sure all traditional art images are either; scanned using a printer, or taken in bright natural lighting. As long as it's clear and clean, it'll count!

Can I depict XYZ subject in my art? [CW: Sensitive Topics]

If Deviantart allows it, then we allow it! Keep in mind that we are a PG13 group for the most part, even when including darker themes, and anything with nudity/overtly suggestive themes/extreme violence shouldn't be posted to general art channels or our Deviantart Group.

You are also free to depict real-world issues, such as discrimination like sexism, transphobia, homophobia, child abuse, abusive relationships, and even things like SA in your art; however, if you are found romanticizing these issues, depicting them as good/okay, etc. in your art, you will be banned from the group. Whether it's a temporary or permanent ban will involve the severity of the content and your expressed feelings towards them. These things are real-world problems that real people struggle with. Do your research, don't disrespect the topics.

We DO NOT allow ANY depiction of disgusting actions such as Pedophilia, Beastiality, Necrophilia, and other such abhorrent and disgusting "romantic relationships". If you are found depicting any of those, within the group OR in your personal art; you will be banned permanently. Other groups will also be warned about you in the case of these topics being depicted.

  • Pedophilia would be depicting a Kwilling and an adult Kwillian in a romantic relationship.
  • Bestiality would be depicting a Kwillian and a pet, mount, wildlife, or plant in a romantic relationship.
  • Necrophilia would be depicting a Kwillian in a romantic relationship with a corpse.
  • What's your policy on tracing, copying designs, etc.?

Kwillians has a complete Zero Tolerance for any sort of theft of intellectual property. Anyone found tracing art (whether it's from another user or official Kwillian art) will receive an immediate warning. Design Theft, Art Theft, etc. will all be treated the same. Repeated cases of tracing/copying/theft will result in an indefinite ban for the user.

    Lore Related Questions

Does Kwillians exist in the Real World? What Real World things exist in the Universe?

Kwillians is its own fantasy world, where real-world animals such as humans or dogs don't really exist! Instead, Kwillians has its own sentient species (the Kwillian themselves, of course) and in-world creatures to use! You can find most of such creatures/monsters over on The Beastiary page!

Kwillians takes place in a medieval-esque era, think knights, castles and keeps, kings and queens! Computers, telephones, air conditioning, and the like simply don't exist in the wonderful world of Kwillians! However many common everyday items such as the wheel, utensils, maps, and crossbows still exist! After all, there's only so many ways to reinvent things.

Keep in mind to also keep pop culture out of your Kwillians stories, such as your Kwillians referring to things from T.V. shows, etc. Funny nods that make sense in context are fine, but your Kwillian isn't omnipotent, they don't know anything about our world, and never will!

Where can my Kwillian be born/depicted?

Currently, all Kwillian are born in Glyphith or its surrounding Farmlands. While there will be more areas and cities for Kwillians to be born in at later dates, Glyphith is currently the only available area to be born into.

While adults can be shown traveling (but not living) outside of Glyphith, Kwillings can never be depicted exploring the Woods or Craglands around Glyphith. These areas are dangerous to the point that no Kwilling who set claw more than ten paces into those areas would ever make it out alive. Such areas a death sentence to children.
