What is the LHO?
The Last Hop Orphanage, or LHO, is the orphanage of Glyphith and the main starting location of any MYO, Adopted, etc. Kwillings in the group. It's owned and completely staffed and run by two local Glyphith residents, Nina Mills, and her only resident biological child, Niko. Being the main starting location, especially for new members, it is (or will be) a hub for multiple mechanics.
Orphanages in Kwillians
Orphanages in the Kwillians world aren't quite just homes for abandoned or (in the meaning of the word) orphaned Kwillings needing a place to stay. Many adults who have grown up there help to take care of the children who come in until they can save money to move out of the orphanage. They also often accept newcomers to towns and cities and act as hotels to boost their earnings slightly.
Smaller orphanages even operate as daycares, allowing Kwillian to drop off their children for the day. There are only so many rooms, as long as they pick them up before it's time for everyone to sleep.
It's rare in small towns to see any Kwillian kicked out of an orphanage, which often has over two hundred rooms, each housing anywhere from eight Kwillings to four adults or growing teens.
However, it's more common in larger cities and capitals, as there isn't enough room for all the children to stay in the orphanages as they grow up. This leads to adults being kicked out onto the street when still unprepared to deal with life, encouraging newly fledged adults straight from their group home life to turn to crime.
Thankfully, this is a non-issue in Glyphith. Thanks to Maxwell running the Hunters guild, the seedy underground of the town being not only somewhat elusive but exclusive as well, and Nina's loving embrace, crime has sunk to an all-time low.
What can I do at the Orphanage?
The LHO is home to many Kwillian, including many player characters like your own! All Kwillian, regardless of acquisition (MYO, Bred, Adopted, etc.), can have their story start at the LHO. Think of the Orphanages of Kwillians as the 'defaults' or spawn points, where Kwillian from any start in life can start/be depicted.
The Orphanage also has its own mechanic(s), with a select set of them picked out for the future to give members a way to earn extra coins, receive additional materials, and, of course, bonus items!

Any Kwillian of any age, whether a Kwilling or Kwill, can participate in the Orphanage Mechanics available. All orphanage mechanics will always be available to all age ranges no matter what, as these mechanics are intended to give not only extra jade coins but also a taste of adult mechanics!

Chores
What are Chores?
Chores are one way you can keep the Orphanage clean, in good repair, healthy, and happy. They're also a good way to earn Jade Coins, one of the group's currencies that can be used to purchase items from shops normally only available for USD. Think of them as a small window into mechanics such as Jobs or even Employment.
The way Chores work in Kwillians is simple;
- Each Month has a different set of chores focused on a different room or set of rooms at the orphanage. Make sure to only post prompts that are still available for the month you're in!
- Draw the prompts available for a month! Chores only require a partial and a background of some sort depicting the room/area they're in. Shading is NOT required on character or background!
- If a month ends and you forget to submit chores, there is a 24-hour Grace Period during the first of each month during which you can still post prompts from the previous month! Just make sure to have the @Chores role ping in the server if you want to receive monthly pings for the rollover and reminders of chores.
- Each chore completed adds to either of the Orphanage Stats, Cleanliness and/or Happiness. The happier and cleaner the orphanage, the better!
The Stats & Population
There are three main stats to worry about for the Orphanage: Happiness, Cleanliness, and Distress! Completing chores fills the former two of these stats. The latter stat only comes into play if Happiness and Cleanliness are depleted below half. When happiness and cleanliness are FULL, they will cause distress to decrease over time slowly.
These stats are simply maintained by the group continuing to complete chores, raising the good stats, and decreasing the less-than-stellar ones.
Population comes into play when the Chore and Cleanliness bars are full, and the Distress bar is empty. If this happens, the stats will reset to 50% each, and the orphanage's population will increase. As the population increases, so will the speed at which the stats deplete each month. Let the orphanage fall into disrepair and allow the condition to deteriorate entirely, and the orphanage's population will decrease.
Rewards
All chores are rewarded at a base amount of 25 JC per single chore completed. Completed all chores in the month (make sure to NOTE this and what month you're on in your message involving the final prompt you complete) to receive a monthly completion bonus! Completing MULTIPLE months in a row will boost the amount of coins gained each month.
The bonus starts at 125 JC and increases by 25 JC each month, for a maximum of a whopping extra 250 JC a month from the chores bonus!
