Kwillian: The name of the groups central species.
Kwill: The term for an adult Kwillian.
Kwilling: The term for a baby Kwillian.
Kwillian are monotremes meaning that while they may be mammals, Kwillian still lay eggs thanks to the dangers in the world of Metioth. Kwillian will be gravid with the egg(s) for three months until the egg(s) are laid, where they incubate for around five months before hatching. Most eggs are laid in the early to late spring, early summer, as this is when most of the dangers of the world are resting until the end of the year.
Though it's a more recent development in history, Kwillian are capable of harnessing raw magical energy to perform fantastical feats. Such as hurling fireballs from their fingertips, to pulling water out of the very air. The newest addition to their anatomy, the Gem set somewhere into a Kwillians skeletal structure is a way to harness the power of magic.
This gem holds a Kwillians soul, and a Kwillians soul holds their magical potential, aligned to a certain element. That means one soul, one alignment, one element they can learn. This doesn't mean that it's the only magic a Kwillian will learn in their lifetime though!
The world that Kwillian live on is called 'Metioth', their home for as long as they've existed. Not much is known about the geography of the planet aside from the continent of Altuar. It's believed that all Kwillian currently alive live on Altuar, and that none of their kind survived the original cataclysm outside of the Kwillian of today.
How wrong they are about that still remains to be seen, but the sneaking suspicion that more than just the Altuar population exists is creeping into the minds of the public.
The world is inhabited both above ground and below with cities and villages sprawling across expansive caverns, many of which are unnamed and some even abandoned. It's also incredibly hostile, dotted by pockets of corrupted land with monsters and beasts lurking around every corner ready to pounce.
Though Altuar is believed to be the only landmass with Kwillian left on it, plenty of explorers have reported interesting creatures. From birds soaring above the seas, creatures seen on the shores of Altuar from nearby islands, and more. The world is teeming with life, even after The Great Collapse.
