Create a small column of spinning dust, dirtying everything in its way, or knocking off hats.
This ability allows the caster to create a small dust devil and send it in one direction. This spinning column of air and dust may not be very powerful, but it sure does leave a mess and shake the trees a bit. Most often this ability is simply used for fun, kicking up dirt and leaves in its wake. Occasionally though it's used to fend off swarms of flying insects, or distract an attacker long enough for the dust Kwillian casting it to run as fast as their legs will take them in the opposite direction.
These dust devils are never any larger than the Kwillian casting them is, nor are they very powerful. The most they can do is shake small trees or blow the hat off another Kwillians head, although having dust in your eyes is a rather large inconvenience for most.
Form a thin magical film over your eyes, protecting them from pollutants or airborne dusts in the air.
Shield Vision allows a dust alignment Kwillian to conjure a thin magical film over their eyes to protect them from anything in the air. Most often this ability is used to prevent a dust Kwillians own abilities or sneezes from blowing back into their eyes. It's also used to prevent smoke, water, or other things from entering a Kwillians eyes, like magical goggles preventing anything from entering their eyes!
This ability requires constant concentration to keep the magical shield active over the casters eyes. If there is any lapse in this concentration than the magic will dissipate leaving their eyes open to whatever it was they were being shielded from. Shield Vision can also only protect the eyes from physical pollutants and is a very thin barrier, not protecting them from injury or providing better sight.
Manipulate Dust around you, forming it into shapes in the air. Kind of gross, but useful for cleaning!
Manipulate Dust is a useful ability despite what most might think. A dust alignment Kwillian can manipulate the dust not only in the air but also on or under surfaces. This lets them manipulate this dust around, not only forming shapes in the air, but also funneling dust straight from around themselves and into the trash where it belongs, no dusting or sweeping needed!
This ability requires concentration on keeping the dust moving and together as the fine particles can be easy to lose during movement. Manipulate Dust also doesn't allow a Kwillian to compact the dust into any sort of useful state, just allows them to manipulate around in its semi-solid cloudy form.
Condense and compact dust with your magic, forming it into a solid substance that can be used to construct tools, or even temporary limbs.
This ability allows for a Kwillian to gather dust particles and condense them into a solid form. Once the dust is compacted, it can be shaped into tools or even temporary limbs. A Kwillian able to master this ability would be able to maintain the dust's new form for a longer period of time throughout the day. They would also be able to construct sturdier provisional limbs and tools, be able to use them for their craft or aid during a busy day. Once the user is finished, they may focus on the object and loosen the dust to revert back to its original state.
Condense Dust requires the user to hold one hand above the other about two to three inches apart. Allowing for the dust particles to gather, but also have room to solidify and shape to the user's wishes. Do keep in mind, whatever is constructed with this ability is still dust, so it will at some point break down. If the user does not release the dust from its solidified state after 3 hours, the dust will separate on its own.
Inhale dust and exhale fresh air as your magic breaks the dust down into nothing.
By concentrating their magic into their lungs, a Kwillian is able to inhale dust and exhale fresh air. Using the magic centralized in their lungs to break down the dust into purified air. Useful for times where a Kwillian is cleaning a dirty room or strolling through town on a dusty day.
Beginners will only be able to use this ability for a maximum of thirty minutes, while an advanced user can use the ability up to two hours. Because this ability deals with the lungs of the user, they must not use it more than two times per day, otherwise they will suffer from coughing fits for a couple days to follow.
Inhale clean air and exhale a flurry of dust, covering everything around you in filth. If you're feeling rude at least.
Like its sister ability Purify Air, a Kwillian focuses their magic into their lungs. However, this time they inhale clean air and exhale dust. This allows the user to cover a variety of objects in their own blanket of dust. Perfect for pestering your next door neighbor, or making another kwill go crazy over how many times they think they've cleaned that window.
Similar to Purify Air, because this ability deals with a Kwillian's lungs, when they begin using this ability, they should only use it for a maximum of five minutes a day. As they gain experience they can use it a max of two times per day. If they exceed that limit, they may be coughing up “dust balls” for the next day or two.
Create a small dust storm that'll cover everything it rolls over in dust and leave quite the mess behind it.
This ability is the older, stronger sibling to Create Dust Devil. Conjure Dust Storm allows the caster of the ability to create a localized raging dust storm, capable of knocking people over, throw small objects around, and covering the vicinity with dust. This ability makes for perfect crowd control, allowing a dust Kwillian to clear out any others in the area by simply activating this ability and making it near possible to stay without swallowing probably too much dust to be healthy.
The storm created by this ability cannot be more than twenty feet in diameter, extending ten feet from the Kwillian creating the storm in a massive circle. This storm also cannot cause much damage, though it can throw around small object that can create quite a mess or damage things they fly into, the storm itself isn't powerful enough to do much. Conjure Dust Storm also requires a massive amount of concentration to keep going, so most often the storms created by this ability don't last very long before a Kwillian is unable to keep it going.
Kick dust up from the ground with this ability, creating a thick veil to escape through if you need to get out of a pickle.
This ability allows a Kwillian to kick up a massive amount of dust in only a split moment, pulling it from the air around them and the ground to create as thick of a veil as possible. This dust-screen is darkened by the magic, making for the perfect get away veil whether you be fleeing from the law, or a brawl. Veil is also often used for performances, acting as the perfect curtain for actors to quickly shift around, or be a faux smoke screen instead of using actual smoke that might give an actor lung issues.
Create Veil can only pull dust from the surrounding area, meaning if you're in an immaculate area with no dust around to pull from, you won't be able to make much of an impressive screen! It's also not uncommon for a Kwillian using Create Veil to get their very own dust in their eyes or mouth, leaving them unable to see where they're blindly running to. This ability pairs best with Shield Vision, preventing the dust from getting into the casters eyes.
Coat the inside of another Kwillians mouth and throat with dust, causing them to hack and cough it out.
This offensive move allows the caster of the ability to pull dust quickly around another Kwillian far away, and push that dust into their mouth, nose, and throat. Choke doesn't do much actual damage, but it's for sure a hindrance for your target to have to stop what they're doing to start coughing and wheezing instead. This ability is often used in fights, or to put an end to arguments with your friends. They can't disagree with you if they're too busy coughing up the dust you shoved into their lungs! Right?
Choke can't be used to cause any real significant damage to the Kwillian its used on. It can't be used to push enough dust into someones nose and throat to actually choke them out, nor can it cause any lasting damage to the inside of their lungs, as the magically altered dust simply comes right back up. However, it can be used to quickly put a pause on a fight, or end an argument with your friends or family. Just remember, they'll get that dust out and be able to do something about it pretty quickly!
