Corruption Abilities

Novice

Conjure Shadows

Create shade where there was none.

Uses:

This ability lets the user conjure shadows onto themselves, or a surface nearby! This ability is useful for a Kwillian who wants to shroud themselves in shade. Whether they're trying to keep the sun off the back of their neck, glare off their glasses, or trying to skulk in the shadows they create, this ability has a multitude of uses! Shadows can also be conjured on a surface, or other nearby Kwillians if the users feeling generous!

Limitations:

Like all magic, Conjure Shadows requires the user to have constant attention on keeping the shade intact. Shadows can also only be conjured on surfaces within arms reach that the Kwillian using the ability can touch! The more talented and experienced the magic user, the larger the shadows that can be conjured. Most Kwillians can only conjure a foot or so radius of shadow, but more talented users in the ability can conjure up to a five, ten, or in one case a twenty-foot radius of shadows.

Night Vision

Open your eyes and see through the dark.

Uses:

Night Vision is an ability many find incredibly useful, allowing the user to see through shadows and perceive the world around them even in the dark. Many use this ability for scouting and skulking about when others wouldn't and where others wouldn't, such as moving around sewers, dark alleys, or your house in the dark if you want to avoid banging a knee.

Limitations:

This ability only allows the user to see shapes and outlines, it doesn't let them see the colors or fine details of things around them. Many who use the ability find it taxing to hold for long amounts of time, causing headaches if prolonged for more than an hour or two. This ability is also especially hampered by glass of any sort, whether it be a window, glasses, or otherwise, causing anything perceived through glass to be even more blurred and undefined than normal.

Shroud Lies

Conceal your untruths from those who seek to expose you...

Uses:

The sister ability to Detect Truth, Shroud Lies allows the user to cloak lies from any source that might be able to see through their deception. This ability can be used to keep Purity Kwillian from Detecting if they're lying, along with cloaking it from any other sort of magical source including telepathy!

Limitations:

This ability must be used as the Kwillian is lying! It doesn't work if used after or before, since it counteracts other magics. It's also important to keep in mind this ability only hides lies magically, and if a Kwillian is a poor liar in the first place the look of guilt will be painted all over their face still.

Acolyte

Curse

Cast a hex upon a person through an item imbued with negativity...

Uses:

Curse is used to imbue an object or area with negativity, evoking negative effets. Curses have different effects depending on intent, object, and even the cause and type of negative emotion. Many curse objects they held dear to them to avoid them being stolen after death, and others still curse objects to give to someone they may despise.

Limitations:

Curses come from negativity, such as sorrow, pain, rage, and other such emotions. If an emotions not strong enough, curses will not last long and instead will fizzle out a few hours or days after being cast. In order for a curse to last, the negative feeling embued into it must be equally as strong and lasting. Curses also are difficult to control, and the emotion behind the curse and what kind of object is used far, far more outweight the intended effect. Surrounding areas are even more difficult to curse, and requires powerful magic and strong negative feelings.

Shroud

Cloak yourself in the darkness, and disappear...

Uses:

This ability allows the user to shroud themselves from sight, granting them temporary invisibility from normal eyes! Many use the ability to cheat at hide and seek, and others yet use the ability to infiltrate buildings and sneak past any guards. Any clothing or objects being held are also invisible unless taken off or set down! Particularly talented users can even shroud new objects they pick up, or even other Kwillians they touch.

Limitations:

This ability requires constant concentration and focus on staying unseeable. Shroud also only affects the surrounding light, which means that any creature or Kwillian with the ability to see a magical aura, heat gradient, or another sort of ability will be able to easily see a shrouded Kwillian. Noise is also an issue, as the ability doesn't cloak any sound, only sight! It's not recommended to jump to heists right off the bat if you're a newbie at sneaking around.

Unnerve

Look into the eyes of your enemy and strike unease into their hearts.

Uses:

This ability allows the user to unnerve and unsettle anyone they touch. Nowadays, this ability is mainly used for pulling pranks on friends and family. There are however tales of Corruption Kwillian using the ability to terrify others to the point of permanent trauma.

Limitations:

The user must maintain contact with the desired target for the unease to persist. In order to properly use Unnerve, the user must think of unnerving thoughts or images. This ability also requires constant concentration on keeping the magic going, which means constantly thinking unnerving thoughts.

Professional

Dreamwalk

Walk in the dreamscapes of those near to you...

Uses:

The ability allows the user to step into the dream realm of someone actively dreaming nearby. The user can interact with the dreamscape and even occasionally the dreamer themselves in rare cases, though that is incredibly uncommon and rare. Many use this ability to instill ideas into the minds of those dreaming around them, though there are cases of Corruption Kwillian using the ability to reach those under magical or medical sleeps as well.

Limitations:

Dreamwalk can only be used on Kwillians who are nearby while dreaming. This ability also knocks the user unconscious, so it's best to be laying down and in a safe area unless you want to return to the waking world with a headache or missing your coin. Dreamers most often cannot see or hear the Dreanwalker, only see things they move. Only those who are Corruption affinity themselves, or the particularly magically talented can see a Dreamwalker in their dream.

Read Mind

Look into the mind of another and see their inner being.

Uses:

This ability lets the user read the mind of another Kwillian as long as they're nearby. This ability is useful for those who want to know what others are thinking. Whether they're wondering if someone really does have a crush on them or if someone has ill intent, Read Mind has a variety of uses!

Limitations:

This ability can only be used on a nearby Kwillian within eyesight of the Kwillian using the ability! Thoughts are transmitted as images into the mind of the Reader, meaning that thoughts of others are often left up to interpretation as images are associated with their current thoughts but may not contain specifics. Often times this can be things like faces, landscapes, pets, or other such images being transmitted to the mind Reader! Like most magic, this ability also required constant concentration to keep the mind reading going.

Shadow Image

Create an image from shadows, as one may from light...

Uses:

This ability allows the user to create a solid construct out of shadows. These constructs are dark or black in color as most shadows are. Many use this ability to create temporary tools, limbs, and even sometimes barriers to keep things away. Most often though, the ability is used by those showing off or who forgot something they needed at home that they can just make a shadowy replica of.

Limitations:

This ability does not need shadows to condense, however, it does take a lot more concentration than other similar abilities. Any object with small details is pretty much out of the question, but simple things such as a mostly functional arm, wall, shovel, or other such tools are easy to create. Most can't maintain a tool or limb for more than a few hours, however, that time is usually more then enough.
